It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
How does Gulp.js work?
As we said before, Gulp does not write anything on the hard drive. So, all operations are performed at the filesystem level. It observes the file preconfigured to check for any change (read) and after some edition, it will rewrite the compiled content linked with another file, or execute some preconfigured command.
