Hardware Trojans

Abstract

Globalization of the semiconductor design and fabrication process has left designs open to malicious modifications, referred to as hardware Trojan. These Trojans can be inserted by many malicious entities involved in the design and fabrication process, including third party intellectual property (3PIP) vendor, rogue in-house employees, and rogue fabrication facilities. Hardware Trojans can cause sensitive information leakage, denial-of-service, and reduction in reliability, and can compromise security of the overall system.
