Planning for Access Isn’t the Same as Planning for People
Making something inclusive is a lot like planning a trip that everyone can enjoy. Last winter, I traveled to New Orleans with a relative who experiences chronic knee pain. I thought I had everything covered: I booked accessible hotels, mapped out short walking routes, and used apps to locate ramps and elevators. On paper, it all seemed to line up (see Figure 3-1).
