802.11 The original IEEE standard defining medium access and physical layer specifications for up to 2 Mbps wireless connectivity on local area networks in the 2.4-, 3.6-, and 5-GHz frequency bands. Maintained by the IEEE LAN/MAN Standards Committee (known as IEEE 802). See also IEEE.
