
Preface
Service integration has become a necessity in today’s distributed systems,
which have in turn become very diverse and hybrid both in terms of hardware
as well as software tools. The goal of this book is to describe the current state-
of-the-art solutions in distributed system architectures, discuss key challenges
related to integration of distributed systems, and propose solutions both in
terms of theoretical aspects such as models and workflow scheduling algo-
rithms as well as technical solutions such as software tools and APIs.
