Absence of standards
IoT has picked up in the last few years, but we lack the standards for its implementation. Each and every implementation is different from another in some aspects. An IoT system is made up of multiple components combined together, which include the hardware, networks, mobile platforms, and cloud services. Each component itself has multiple layers and multiple ways of implementation. For example, a mobile application can be a native mobile app or a hybrid one—both have their own technology stack. Similarly, a gateway device can be a Raspberry Pi or a custom one, and a server can be in the cloud or on premises.
