It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Overview
Some platforms where Java programs can run are presented together with their related Java 2 edition in Figure 5.1. This figure doesn't mention all possible platforms (for instance, one can think of network computers, Internet screen phones, card devices, etc.).

In Figure 5.1, we can see that J2ME is currently split into two parts, or configurations, as briefly explained in Chapter 1, “Deploying Java.” We will discuss J2ME deployment options in the next section.
