I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
How bitwise OR works
Suppose we want to take a bitwise OR of 5 and 12:
- Covert both numbers to binary; 5 is 0101 and 12 is 1100
- Bitwise OR performs an OR operation bit by bit, starting from the first bit: 5 | 12 0 || 1 = 1 1 || 1 = 1 0 || 0 = 0 1 || 0 = 1
- Thus, 5 | 12 = 1101 which is 13.
