I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

In this chapter:
– Manipulating Strings.
– Reading and writing text files.
– HTTP requests, parsing HTML.
– XML, RSS feeds.
– The Yahoo search API.
– The applet sandbox.
This chapter will move beyond displaying text and examine how to use String objects as the basis for reading and writing data. We will start by learning more sophisticated methods for manipulating Strings, searching in them, chopping them up, and joining them together. Afterward, we will see how these skills allow us to use input from data sources, such as text files, web pages, xml feeds, and third party APIs, and take a step into the world of data visualization. ...
