Chapter 2. Multicast Protocols
A MULTICAST ROUTING PROTOCOL TAKES ADVANTAGE of multicast networking to broadcast information to an IP address (channel or group) to which any computer with multicast access can listen.When a router supports multicast protocols, it may or may not need to be aware of who is listening at any given time. It depends on how far your multicast channel reaches and which protocol you chose.
