Distance Vector Multicast Routing Protocol (DVMRP)

The Distance Vector Multicast Routing Protocol is a child of the original RIP-1 and for use only within a single autonomous system. It does not actually handle unicast data. If you want to use DVMRP, you also will have to use another protocol to handle unicast information. All of the unicast protocols discussed earlier are viable.

This protocol is still considered experimental, so it is likely to change in some ways. Do the following to see if there is a newer version of this coming standard available:
