To start us off on our inventioneering journey, let’s take a look at a basic simple machine that you use almost every day — the hinge. A hinge is something that connects two objects and helps them rotate. Just take a peek at the nearest door: That circular bar between the wall and the door is what enables it to rotate, or swing, open and close. Hinges are incredibly useful when building a robot, because they’re a simple way to enable movement and transform a boring, static object into something more.
