ll over the world, local endeavors are

underway to provide Covid-19 relief. Many of

these are viable only because of maker networks.

As Glenn Walters, director of the BeAM (Be A

Maker) Design Center at the University of North

Carolina at Chapel Hill, writes:

Without our makerspace capacity to prototype,

test, and scale production it would be unlikely

that the University could have mounted a large-

scale support effort for healthcare providers
