Face Shields

These are primarily being 3D printed, laser cut,

die cut or stamped, and injection molded.

Most 3D printable face shields consist of a

simple frame; the original styles were open on

top, but some later incorporated a top barrier

— a requirement for some medical facilities,

although slower to print. Approaches range from

simple headbands with hooked ends in the back

for elastic or string, to fully printed, adjustable

wraparound units, to types that sit on the ears

and nose like glasses. A sheet of clear plastic is

clipped onto nubs or grooves on the outside of

the frame, wrapping around the wearer’s face.
