My two daughters wanted a way to communicate
with each other from their rooms; I wanted to
get them something that didn’t have a screen or
require batteries. I discovered a device called a
ringdown emulator, which simulates a phone line,
complete with dial tones and ringing. I realized
I could repurpose our old landline phone wiring
with this to create an intercom for them. A win-
win for everyone!
