Batteries can also be placed in series or in parallel. When batteries are
connected in series, the voltage of the two batteries is added together.
When they are connected in parallel, the voltage stays the same but their
available current is added together.
For instance, AAA batteries usually supply around 1.5 V. If two AAA batteries
were placed in series, their voltage would be combined and the resulting
battery pack would provide 3 V and the same amount of current as a single
AAA battery. If two AAA batteries were placed in parallel, however, the
battery pack would supply 1.5 V but twice as much current.
