Database management

Database management covers many topics. This section starts with a discussion about the basic files that constitute an Exchange mailbox database (see Figure 1-4) and then goes on to discuss some of the finer details about how transaction logs and the other files are used.

The most important files you see in the directory used to hold an Exchange database are:

  • Database file For example, Vip.edb. All the tables and data required to provide content to clients are held in the database.

  • Current transaction log For example, E01.log. This log file is the one into which the Store is currently writing ...
