Signals are asynchronous messages sent to a running process within the POSIX-compliant operating systems. They can be sent both by users of programs. The following is a list of Linux-supported standard signals:
- SIGHUP: Hangup (POSIX)
- SIGINT: Terminal interrupt (ANSI)
- SIGQUIT: Terminal quit (POSIX)
- SIGILL: Illegal instruction (ANSI)
- SIGTRAP: Trace trap (POSIX)
