Exchange 2007 introduced new features like continuous log replication and it is not surprising that Microsoft discovered some gaps that they had to fill in how the Store processes data in new circumstances once Exchange 2007 went into production. Exchange has validated page checksums during streamed backups since its earliest release and introduced zeroing of deleted pages in Exchange 5.5 SP2. These features work as expected when you perform streamed backups on standalone servers and classic clusters but some complications arise once you start to ship logs from active to passive servers.
