Chapter 1. Successful Test Taking
I have had an amazing career as a technology consultant and trainer—and Microsoft certifications have played a large role in the journey. Having worked with various Microsoft product engineering teams and volunteered in the Microsoft data community as an MVP, group leader, and speaker, I’ve often been invited to collaborate with different teams at Microsoft. Over the years, I’ve served on consultation panels to help define certification exam topics and write exam questions. I’ve also participated in focus groups to shape certification roadmaps for Microsoft product platforms and to identify and assess the skills business and IT professionals need to succeed with these tools. In addition to participating in the planning and development process, I’ve also taken dozens of Microsoft product certification exams.
Some of these engagements required me to sign nondisclosure agreements, so I can’t discuss which specific product roadmaps or exams I may have been involved with. However, I can say with confidence that I understand the goals of and the development process behind Microsoft’s certification exams. While I won’t give you “inside information” or specific answers to the PL-300 exam, I will clearly explain what you need to know to pass it.
I am impressed with how Microsoft aligns its product-learning plans with its certification assessments. In my experience, if you know how to use the product, they want you to become certified to use it.
