Access 2010 Form Types

In Microsoft Access 2010 you have many types of forms to choose from, and the differences can be confusing. Any form in Access can be derived from any other by setting the correct properties for the form. This lesson is devoted to discussing the different types of forms available in Access 2010 and how they vary from one another.

LESSON SETUP

To begin this lesson, it is assumed that you have at least some knowledge of how to design and use forms in Access 2010, as discussed in the previous lessons. This lesson discusses the differences between the Access form types in terms of properties, so you should understand what form properties are and how they work.

SINGLE ITEM FORMS

The most basic form in Access is the standard Single Item form. Single Item forms are particularly useful for displaying a single record. Because Access forms are equipped with built-in record selectors and navigation buttons, creating a Single Item form to navigate through a set of records is very easy. Single Item forms are probably the most commonly used type of form in Access because they have such a wide variety of uses, and because they are really the base form type in Access.
