Access Application Settings
Throughout this book so far, each chapter has discussed working with individual objects inside of a database, but Access also provides the ability to manipulate application-level and database-level settings. These settings can affect the Access program, the database application, or both, and it is important to understand how they can be used. This lesson discusses the basics of working with the settings for individual databases and the Access program itself.
LESSON SETUP
The lesson is designed to provide a basic overview of working with the Access application settings. The only requirements are that you be familiar with Access databases and the different database objects to begin working with the application and database settings. Otherwise, this lesson does not require any other specific knowledge of Access.
THE ACCESS OPTIONS DIALOG
The Access Options dialog is where all of the magic happens for Access properties (settings), at both the application level and the database level. You can open the Access Options dialog from the Access 2010 Backstage by clicking the Options button on the bottom-left side of the window. Figure 58-1 shows the Access Options dialog in Access 2010.
