Chapter 8. Understanding Time Intelligence in DAX
Almost all data analyses have to deal with dates. DAX offers a number of functions that simplify many calculations on dates, but using the right function in the right way requires some explanation, starting from the requirements in data modeling.
In this chapter, you see how to correctly define a Date table in a Tabular model and how to handle more dates related to the same entity. Then, you learn how to implement common date-related calculations such as year-to-date, year-over-year, comparisons over years, and so on, including nonadditive measures.
