Configuring Discovery

We use discovery to import computer, user, and group resources into CM12. Discovery can also be used to discover network infrastructure, as well as IP Subnets and Active Directory Sites in Active Directory Forests.

Getting ready

Enabling discovery is one of the first items we configure in CM. Heartbeat discovery is automatically enabled when we install a primary site. Forest Discovery is the only discovery method that can be enabled on a CAS. Enabling discovery is very similar for each method (other than heartbeat), so we will only step through the process one time.

How to do it...

To enable Active Directory (AD) Forest Discovery, follow these steps:

Enable the Enable Active Directory Forest Discovery checkbox.
