About the Author

A great-grandniece of Thomas Edison, Sarah Miller Caldicott has been engaged in creativity and innovation throughout her life. Inspired by a family lineage of inventors dating back five generations, Sarah spent the first 15 years of her 25-year career developing and managing new brands as an executive with Quaker Oats and the Helene Curtis subsidiary of Unilever. As a leader of global innovation teams, Sarah was responsible for revitalizing major brands in the US, Europe, and Asia.

Concerned that America now risks losing its edge as the Innovation Age accelerates, Sarah has spent years researching Edison’s innovation methods with experts at Rutgers University. She coauthored the first book ever written on the subject of Edison’s world-changing innovation process, entitled Innovate Like Edison, which has been translated into five languages and serves as a textbook in leading educational institutions. A selected presenter for the popular TEDx series, Sarah’s thoughts on the kinds of projects Edison would be undertaking in the twenty-first century were recently captured in her e-book, Inventing the Future: What Would Thomas Edison Be Doing Today?

An award-winning innovation speaker, consultant, and author, Sarah advises leaders all over the world on how they can employ Edison’s timeless Five Competencies of Innovation to drive growth in the global economy. Sarah and her work have been featured in the New York Times, Forbes, Fortune Small Business, USA Today, and ...
