Implementation of (co-band1) multiple antennas in terminal devices is a significant challenge. On one hand, it is desirable to include many antennas, in order to take full advantage of MIMO technology; for example, to increase spectral efficiency. On the other hand, the number of antennas that can be effectively employed is fundamentally limited by the compact sizes of today’s terminals. In this context, this chapter is organized as follows:
• The problem at hand is presented as a size-performance trade off.
