When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
34. Removing empty lines from a text file
A possible approach to solving this task is to do the following:
- Create a temporary file to contain only the text you want to retain from the original file
- Read line by line from the input file and copy to the temporary file all lines that are not empty
- Delete the original file after finishing processing it
- Move the temporary file to the path of the original file
An alternative is to move the temporary file and overwrite the original one. The following implementation follows the steps listed. The temporary file is created in the temporary directory returned by filesystem::temp_directory_path():
