There are dozens and dozens of books available for songwriters, and more than a half dozen books on music publishing. Some of them are quite useful, but generally speaking, you have to be a lawyer, have an unusual attention span, or have an MBA degree in order to understand them. When it’s appropriate, we will recommend a few of these books. Our book, however, looks at the business of song-writing, royalties, and music publishing from a songwriter’s point of view, and provides practical guidelines on the opportunities and challenges that every songwriter faces.
