CHAPTER 8How Do I Keep Up?

Even before you get a job in security, it becomes glaringly obvious that a lot of change is happening, and there are lots of things to learn.

There is change in technology. There are new technology products emerging. There are new ways of using old technology. There are new security tools to address the new technology. This change is happening exponentially. New technology is being introduced and adopted faster each year. Staying ahead of what the technology is and what it means for security practitioners is challenging. Currently, we are looking at artificial intelligence and 5G, just to name a couple of things, and we are trying to work out what threats they create for an organization, how each security function will need to adjust to deal with those threats, and whether those threats are big enough to bump another security goal off the list of priorities.
