Drop Trigger

Removes a trigger definition from a database.

Synopsis

DROP TRIGGER name ON table

Parameters

name

The name of the trigger you wish to remove.

table

The name of the table the trigger is on.

Results

DROP

The message returned when a trigger is successfully dropped.

ERROR: DropTrigger: there is no trigger name on relation table

The error returned if the trigger name does not exist on table.

Description

Use the DROP TRIGGER command to remove a trigger from the database. All references to the trigger are removed when you issue this command. You must be the owner of trigger in order to drop it.

Examples

The following command removes the sync_authors_books trigger from the authors table, in the booktown database:

booktown=# DROP TRIGGER sync_authors_books ON authors;
DROP
