So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Setting up Prometheus
For this example, we need a few prerequisites. We need both Kubernetes and Istio 0.7 up and running. The reader needs to have basic knowledge of Linux. Take a look at the following steps:
- First, we will install Prometheus using the prometheus.yaml file. You can find this yaml file in the /kubernetes/addons folder. Run the following command to install Prometheus from the Istio directory:
Kubectl apply -f install/kubernetes/addons/prometheus.yaml
The output is as follows:
- Verify that the Prometheus service is running in your cluster as follows:
kubectl -n istio-system get svc prometheus
