When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Will I Go Faster?
AI tools are only now emerging from their infancy, but they show a lot of promise. As with human toddlers, they thrive when you provide them with some direction and safeguards, but they can also surprise you with their cleverness, particularly when you let them explore.
Good design makes so many things easier: writing tests around code, understanding code, extending code, and so on. Generating code via an LLM is also easier when you direct it to follow a small set of guidelines for design that promote small, focused methods and intention-revealing names.
Will using an LLM speed you up? I believe the answer will be increasingly yes. For now, it will speed you up at least as much as any auto-code-complete mechanisms speed you ...
