So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Being able to measure performance is a simple yet critical feature in optimizations, and Android provides simple yet powerful tools to assist you. Traceview, whether it is used for Java or native tracing, is one of the most useful tools you will use, but remember that only actual measurements on a real device give you a definitive answer as Traceview disables the Dalvik Just-In-Time compiler. While considered quite trivial, these topics are important, and you should become comfortable with the various tools Android offers. You should also always check for new tools in new versions of the SDK that could improve your profiling, benchmarking, and debugging capabilities.
