Two things separate a good soundtrack from a poor one: the quality of the original recording, and how well it’s been processed. It’s probably too late to do anything about the former.

The rules of processing are changing. New algorithms and more powerful desktop computers let us do things that were impossible a decade ago. Don’t expect miracles—some of these processors are in their infancy, and others will never live up to their advertising hype—but keep checking the magazines and user groups to see what’s new.
