3-D Printing. Also known as additive manufacturing, a term used to describe any one of various processes used to synthesize a three-dimensional object. In 3-D printing, successive layers of material are laid down under computer control. These objects can be of almost any shape or geometry, and are produced from a 3-D model or other electronic data source. A 3-D printer is a type of industrial robot.

8-D Methodology. Refers to a problem-solving process of implementing eight disciplines in a particular sequence to ultimately identify root cause and corrective actions relating to a particular encountered issue.
