Getting ready
In this recipe, we will analyze the functioning of a physical system that's made by connecting a rigid rod to a cart, modeling the system using different approaches. The rod is connected through a pivot that's hinged on the carriage and is free to rotate around it. This mechanical system, which is called the reverse pendulum, is a classic problem in control theory.
