It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

At some point during interactions with your application, the user is going to have to supply some information to the application, make a yes/no decision, or acknowledge important information. Material-UI has a dialog component that is ideally suited for these types of scenarios—when you need a modal display that doesn't disrupt the current screen content.
