It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
WORKING WITH DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES
Below are several examples of techniques that can be done with pencil. These techniques are important for creating more painterly effects in your drawing. Remember that B pencils have soft lead and H pencils have hard lead—you will need to use both for these exercises.
Creating Washes Create a watercolor effect by blending water-soluble pencil shading with a wet brush. Make sure your brush isn’t too wet, and use thicker paper, such as vellum board.
