I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Implement Routing Update Authentication on RIP
The Cisco implementation of RIPv2 supports two modes of authentication: plaintext authentication and MD5 authentication. Plaintext authentication mode is the default setting in every RIPv2 packet, when authentication is enabled. Plaintext authentication should not be used when security is an issue because the unencrypted authentication password is sent in every RIPv2 packet.
Note
RIP Version 1 (RIPv1) does not support authentication. If you are sending and receiving RIPv2 packets, you can enable RIP authentication on an interface.
