Development of software is a project. The tools, techniques and principles of ‘Project Management’ are applicable in the development of software. This chapter discusses different aspects of software projects, their objectives, constraints and responsibilities, types of project plans and steps for the software development plan. This chapter describes the different tools and techniques of project planning, such as Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Activity Network, Critical Path Method (CPM) and Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT), and Gantt chart.
