Back Up the Environment

Up to this point, you've focused on backing up the SQL Server databases. However, the SQL Server services do not run in isolation. They run on a Windows server that has been configured over time to meet the needs of the organization. In addition to the database backups, the administrator must ensure that a recovery solution is available for the entire server. You really have three options for these types of environment backups:

  • Built-in backup tools
  • Imaging tools
  • Third-party tools

Built-In Backup Tools
