Unlike RAID mirroring, which is a drive-level concept, database mirroring is a transaction-level concept within a SQL Server architecture. Database mirroring provides a mechanism for duplicating databases across servers and is a low-latency solution. With this technology, you can create a warm standby server using just two servers or a hot standby server using a third server.
