I’s on the Prize
IN FASHIONING TERMS for the four elements that lie at the heart of this book, we chose words that begin with the letter I. That’s an apt choice, we believe. As the saying goes, there is no I in team. Yet there is more than one I in organizational conversation. In fact, organizational conversation consists largely of bringing individuals I’s together for a shared purpose—of enabling them to see I to I, so to speak. It begins, as we’ve explained, by opening up new ways for employees from all parts of a company to put forth ideas and information, and it progresses by integrating their many voices and viewpoints into a common vision.
