Sending and Receiving Email

You can use the Outlook app to work with your email account. You can use Outlook to send email messages and file attachments. You can also use Outlook to receive and read incoming messages.

“Screenshot of an Outlook email client showing the 'Sent Items' folder. The selected email is titled 'Today's photo' and contains a 'Photo of the Day' section with a picture of sailboat masts in heavy fog. The email text reads: 'Welcome to another Weather Wednesday! The chaos of this morning's heavy fog and a symmetric arrangement of sailboat masts combine to produce a satisfying juxtaposition.'”

The Outlook app enables you to use an email account to exchange and manage email messages. Email is one of the most popular Internet services because it offers three advantages: universality, speed, and convenience. Email is universal because nearly anyone with Internet access has an email address. Email is fast because messages are generally delivered within a few minutes. Email is convenient because you can send messages at any time and your recipient does not need to be at the computer or online.

Before you can send or receive email messages, you must know how to start the Outlook app.

Launch the Outlook App

“The Windows 11 Start Menu is open, displaying a range of pinned apps like Edge, Office, Outlook, Microsoft Store, Photos, and more. The recommended items section is also visible. The bottom of the Start Menu shows the taskbar icons and the user profile labeled 'Paul M.'”
