It's not an exaggeration to say that this book would not exist were it not for our former teammate Ash Robinson speaking up one day and saying, “I think we need a manifesto” and then working with us to create one. For years we had been developing our Deloitte Greenhouse methodology for helping executives and their teams get to breakthrough, researching aspects of what we called the “science of experiential engagement,” and building a database of methods to help individuals and groups innovate and make transformative change. But Ash's challenge to us was to codify that work into a clear articulation that would literally “make manifest” the principles underpinning our efforts and create a foundation to scale the impact of those principles across and beyond our team.
