3. Selecting and Using Lenses
Lens selection is one of the most obvious differences between a digicam (a compact digital camera) and a dSLR. The choice of available SLR lenses is extensive, ranging from wide-angle and fisheye lenses up through super telephoto lenses. And along with the wide choice of these different focal lengths, you’ll find an even larger range in prices, depending on lens quality and features.
In this chapter, I cover the different lens types available and give examples of the types of photos you can capture with each. Lenses are broken down into zoom, wide-angle, standard, and telephoto focal lengths, and there is also a section on specialty lenses.
