In this part,r we are providing a sampling of actual investment and loan transactions by some firms listed in Part Three’s Financing Source Directory that follows. We have applied a uniform format for consistency of presentation and obtained content from the funding source and, in some cases, from their portfolio company; the case is written from the lender’s/investor’s voice unless otherwise indicated. There are 20 case studies in total. When the information was available we have provided a profile of the investor/lender, a profile of the case, insight into the investor or lender’s strategy and analysis, summary financial information, transaction details, post-transaction issues, lessons learned, and background about the contributor.
This second edition has been updated during a worldwide financial condition that had no resemblance to any of the economic crises that the United States has experienced since the Wall Street Crash of 1929. It is a combined credit crisis, deep recession, and restructuring of the foundation of our financial system. These conditions have created notoriety in regards to many of the largest corporations in the United States and abroad, particularly in the banking and financing sectors. The ensuing financial difficulties have extended to the emerging growth and middle-market firms which are the focus of this book.
