I owe the inspiration and the endurance to have written and completed this book to all those who have been part of this journey.

This novel is the fruit of almost three decades of crossing boundaries that are conceptual, cultural, and geographical. From theater, through research work in art and science and adult education, I learned to live with uncertainty and the fluid mentality required of the emigrant. The last 20 years, however, of working with a systemic approach to thinking and action trained me to see change as our greatest ally and our greatest challenge.
