So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Appendix M Developer Dilution
A number of film developers are specifically formulated to work well at a variety of dilutions. The following is a list of some popular developers and the dilutions at which they are commonly used:
| Kodak HC110 | 1:3 to 1:30 |
| Ilford Ilfotec HC | 1:31 to 1:47 |
| Kodak D76 | 1:1 or undiluted |
Recommended Normal Development Times and mixing instructions are provided with all of these formulas.
Changing the dilution of a given developer has a dramatic effect on its characteristics and performance. As a general rule, developers that are more dilute produce negatives with softer tonal gradations and finer grain.
