I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Part II. Deconstructing Management
The list of words that define management is revealing: direct, in charge, handle, control, and force. Looking at this list, it’s unsurprising that management has a distasteful controlling Orwellian air.
Over the years, I’ve begun to use the word leadership instead of management. Why? Whether you have direct reports or not, you are a leader. It might not say this as part of your title, but I guarantee that on a daily basis, you are guiding someone else, accountable for a situation, and leading your day in a certain direction.
